51.5.3 Fuel lines & Fuel Filter
Fuel lines: The Tank to Filter line should be painted OD. The Filter to Flexline fuel line is bare. Original compression (flare) nuts were heavy, square shouldered, S7 finished.
Fuel Filter: An AC bowltype fuel filter was mounted on the right side of the firewall from start of production thru approx. May 1945. The cast iron filter top is marked with a prominent script “f”. The cast iron top is painted OD, the fuel filter bowl is Cadmium or Zinc plated, silkscreened in black with an AC logo and servicing information. The firewall fuel filter was eliminated around the time of the introduction of the late ACM body which did not incorporate facilities for mounting the filter. This was accomplished sometime between body number 232581 (May ‘45) and body 243776 (June ‘45)*
Note: “Ord dept. report”, AAW #2 P223 states that this change was accomplished 7/17/44
