51.5.4 Air cleaner
An AC air cleaner was used from start of production thru March ‘42. This air cleaner is flatter and wider than the cylindrical Oaks filter used in standard production and requires a unique air horn to join it with the air crossover tube flex hose. This filter includes a red/orange servicing instruction decal.
The standard air cleaner for March ‘42 thru end of production was Oaks model 613300 oil bath air cleaner. Finish is a semigloss black japan except for the wire clips which secure the bottom bowl which are Zinc or Cadmium plate. The air cleaner is secured to the firewall brackets with stamped, S2 or S7 finished wing screws.
