etched into the inside side of the glass. The logo is located in the lower right corner of the glass (as seen from inside the vehicle) approximately 1” from the bottom inner-frame and 1.25” from the frame side. The logo includes a date code in the following format: F Ford DB The first letter is a month code (“A” = Jan), the second letter is the decade (“D”=1940s) and the third letter is the year (“B”=’42).

Pre rubber-shortage GPWs used rubber inner-windshield weatherstripping, later vehicles used a fabric substitute.

Wipers: Early vehicles used individual wiper cranks above each windshield pane. GPWs after mid 1944 used a tandem wiper assembly. Vacuum wipers were introduced approx. May ‘45, some time before composite body number 223318, as indicated by the addition of a hole in the cowl for the vacuum hose.

A rifle rack was added to the outer windshield frame approx. September ‘43. **

Early cast bronze latches were replaced with stamped steel sometime in Summer-Fall 1942.

* Windshield glass information was provided by Richard Grace, and has been published in AAW VII. Glass stencil image (c) 1990 RRC, used with permission.

** According to documentation provided by Lloyd White (Ord. Dwg. #09597-Z) Rifle bracket was included the week of 9/5/43 at the Louisville plant, 9/19/43 at Dallas and 9/26/43 at Richmond Cal.
